In the night between 20 and 21 December 2007 Trieste has experienced
a great celebration on the border, for the official entry of Slovenia in the Schengen area.
Europe has been enlarged and included Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.
With the entry of Slovenia in the Schengen area, 280 kilometers of the
border felt. They were a symbol of the “Iron Curtain” and a “cold war”,
which for decades has divided Europe.
